Overview

  • Destination:Ha Noi
  • Travelers:Small group or Private tour
  • Tour Type:Day Tours
  • Duration:Full-day
  • Activities:Adventures, Family Friendly
  • Language:English

See Hanoi from the open-air seat of a Vietnam People’s Army Legend Jeep, with a professional driver at the wheel and an English-speaking guide bringing the city’s stories into focus. This daily Jeep experience offers two sides of northern Vietnam: the close-up energy of the capital and the quieter landscapes beyond it. On the city route, weave through the Old Quarter’s narrow lanes, local markets, neighborhoods, lakeside roads, and small alleys where residents live, work, and meet. Pass major landmarks such as the Hanoi Opera House and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, then visit places many visitors miss, including the riverside farms of Banana Island and the B-52 aircraft wreck site. The countryside route crosses the Red River to villages and rice paddies, with a stop at Co Loa to learn the story of King An Duong Vuong. Along the way, pause for local food and a Hanoi coffee, with lunch included. The route moves between busy streets, quiet lanes, and open farmland, giving you a more layered picture of Hanoi than a landmark-only drive. Choose a morning or afternoon departure and explore at street level, with a local guide and driver taking care of the route, pick-up, and drop-off. Cold water is provided throughout, and a rain poncho is available if the weather turns.

Morning

Hotel pick-up and safety briefing
Your guide and driver will meet you in the lobby of your Old Quarter hotel or at an agreed meeting point. After a short safety briefing, climb aboard the open-air Jeep and set off.

Hanoi’s streets and local neighborhoods
Begin near the Hanoi Opera House, then leave the main streets to explore Hanoi at street level. Ride through narrow lanes and residential areas, passing local homes, schools and markets. Your guide will share what daily life looks like in the city, including the contrasts between familiar landmarks and lesser-seen corners.

Landmarks, lakes, and Banana Island
Pass the area around Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and continue along Thanh Nien Street, set between West Lake and Truc Bach Lake. Cross to Banana Island, a pocket of farmland close to the city center. Visit local farms and homes, meet residents when available, and sample seasonal fruit or green tea.

Pagodas, bonsai street and the B-52 wreck site
Continue through villages around the lakes and visit Tran Quoc Pagoda. The ride also takes in Hoang Hoa Tham Street, known for its bonsai and plant shops, and the B-52 aircraft wreck site. Your guide will connect these stops with stories of Hanoi’s past and present.

Local lunch and return
Stop at local eateries to enjoy Hanoi dishes. Lunch and one drink are included before the Jeep returns you to your hotel.

Afternoon

We leave the busy streets and head toward the Red River.

Across the river to village life
Cross the bridge and continue through the city’s outskirts into a quieter landscape of villages and rice paddies. Stop at a local market to see residents buying and selling everyday goods.

Discover Co Loa
Visit the temple dedicated to King An Duong Vuong at Co Loa. Your guide will explain the site’s place in Vietnamese history and share the story of the king associated with the founding of the ancient state of Au Lac.

Riverside ride and Hanoi coffee
Take a different route along the Red River for more views of farmland and rural villages. Back in Hanoi, pause to try Vietnamese coffee, including the city’s well-known egg coffee, before returning to your hotel.
